How We Got Started

S.E.E.D Ministries came into being as a result of pressing into God. It would sound more spiritual if I could say an angel gave the vision, but it didn't happen that way. Instead, it came in the morning while I was working; the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I could have done cartwheels, but instead, my heart did the jumping, and I felt that my face would crack from the smile that erupted.

I had been waiting for over four decades for God to allow me to have a ministry. Not that having a ministry is important, but those of you who have a call on your life to do something for God know what I mean. With that call came a feeling of hunger and an empty spot that could never be filled by life itself. Then S.E.E.D. Ministries was born.
It has always been our heartfelt desire to be a source of support to the body of Christ. Throughout our lives, we have been in many different places of ministry; nursery, Jr. Church, Sunday School, married couples, mini mission trips, youth pastor, even speaking in various churches (domestic and foreigh). God led us in all of those places, but we always heard the same cry, "I wish there was somebody who could help us with..." (you fill in the blank). This is the reason for S.E.E.D. Ministries.

Where we go, we help. Where there is a need, we pray and search for the answer. We have helped a city-supported, church-based youth program with an outreach, given administrative advice, prayer and financial counseling, and, of course, preaching the Word of God. We are currently providing covering for missionaries, designing logos and newsletters, and focusing our full attention on S.E.E.D. Ministries. You can see there is much behind the scenes as God opens up avenues for S.E.E.D. Ministries to support. We know God will provide the people talent and resources to accomplish all He wants to do. The reason we know this is because we have seen Him do it many, many times on a personal basis as well as in ministry. He can only do this when we are willing to step out of the way. We believe God really wants to talk to His children, and when we hear His voice, we can have the faith..." the faith that comes by hearing the Word of God", Romans 10:17. That faith doesn't come by hearing the voice of S.E.E.D. Ministries, and yes not even by you. Only by hearing the Word of God can we have complete faith and assurance to step out of the boat and move according to what the Father says. Only His established Word will bring forth fruit and most importantly, life. You see, our words and our faith on what we believe God wants is good, but many times, it ends in disappointment, questions and doubts. It's not because we don't mean well and have the best intentions. We cannot have mountain moving, seed producing faith based on what we read, think or act on. Only in hearing the Word of God can we be absolutely sure. Peter only had confidence to step out of the boat when Jesus said, "Come". Matthew 14:22-23. You are probably saying who hears God all of the time? (It's not us!) But that doesn't mean we don't try. We are all growing. It doesn't matter where we are in our walk with Christ Jesus, just as long as we are walking with Him. We are His sons and daughters, and He is our heavenly Father. Just like earthly fathers want to talk to their children, so our heavenly Father wants to talk with us. After all, we are His children! With all of this being said, I hope you will look at the different outreaches and while you're there, can you take a few moments and pray for them?
